If they are not adjustable, you can actually purchase full-size mattress support bars from most furniture stores. If you have a wooden headboard and footboard, with two metal mattress support bars then you should first check and see if the support bars are adjustable, and if you can adjust them from 80 inches for a queen-sized set up to a 75-inch full-size set up. Some other beds will have four sided metal mattress support frames that adjust to different widths to support many mattress sizes. Some beds will have two metal mattresses support bars on either size that connect to the headboard and the footboard. If you have a metal mattress frame, you can make some adjustments to make your mattress and bed frame fit together a little better. In many hotels, many spreads will feature beds with an oversized headboard that will extend beyond the mattress, so this is not uncommon, or even all that weird, however it depends on the overall aesthetic of the room, and your personal preference too. It won’t look too strange, but you may still want to make some adjustments, mainly if you have a headboard. The good news is that once you have outfitted your bed with your pillows, comforters, a bed skirt, your sheets and maybe a blanket or two, it will probably not be all that distinguishable.
